The treatment usually takes place in a single appointment. The duration of the treatment is approximately 60 minutes. Professional teeth cleaning is generally painless. If you have sensitive teeth or gums, please contact us - we will find a painless solution for you.
Before Treatment
Initially, the dentist or prophylaxis assistant takes the patient's medical history and enquires about any previous illnesses. The patient receives information about the treatment and the importance of regular tooth cleaning. If necessary, an X-ray of the teeth is taken to detect any caries or other diseases. If an X-ray is already available and brought to the appointment, the treatment can start directly.
Removing plaque and tartar
The process begins with staining the teeth using a plaque test, which helps to visualize plaque and tartar accumulation clearly. Special instruments are meticulously used to remove any tartar present on the teeth. The next step involves eliminating plaque and any discolorations. This is achieved either through the use of the EMS-Prophymaster or a similar powder jet device, ensuring the teeth are thoroughly cleaned and free from unwanted build-up.
Finishing Touches
In the final stages of dental cleaning, teeth are polished with a paste that smooths and shields them. They're then sealed with fluoride agents to prevent decay. The session also includes discussions on healthy eating habits and demonstrations of effective home oral hygiene tools.
After Treatment
After the procedure, the patient receives information on further oral hygiene and the frequency of professional tooth cleaning. We’re also open to any questions about further enhancement of your smile’s appearance, be it by having a whitening treatment or an orthodontic treatment with f.e. aligners to straighten possible crowding which makes proper hygiene more difficult.

Die professionelle Zahnreinigung (auch PZR genannt) ist eine Privatleistung und kostet für gesetzlich Krankenversicherte Patienten ca. 120€. Privatpatienten erhalten die professionelle Zahnreinigung ab ca. 220€. In dem Preis enthalten ist eine circa 60-minütige Behandlung durch speziell geschultes Zahnreinigungspersonal sowie ein Behandlungsgespräch durch den Zahnarzt. Viele gesetzliche Krankenkassen und Zahnzusatzversicherungen übernehmen oder bezuschussen die PZR Kosten. Behandlungsinhalt: Reinigung grober Zahnverschmutzungen (Zahnstein und Beläge) durch schmerzfreie Ultraschallbehandlung, Polieren der Zähne um natürliche Zahnfarbe wiederherzustellen, Air Flow Reinigung bei starken Verschmutzungen, Beratungsgespräch durch den Zahnarzt.
Wie läuft eine Zahnreinigung ab?
Bei unserer professionellen Zahnreinigung werden Ihre Zähne von einer speziell ausgebildeten Prophylaxehelferin gereinigt. Dabei werden sämtliche Zahnbeläge gründlich entfernt, um der Entstehung von Karies oder Erkrankungen des Zahnfleisches vorzubeugen. Durch die gleichzeitige Entfernung hartnäckiger Verfärbungen tritt auch Ihre natürliche Zahnfarbe wieder zutage. So läuft die professionelle Zahnreinigung in unserer Zahnarztpraxis (ZMVZ) ab: Vor jeder Behandlung führen wir ein ausführliches Behandlungsgespräch und eine Voruntersuchung mit unseren Neupatienten durch. Basierend auf einer Voruntersuchung wird eine Plaquedokumentation vorgenommen, in der die Zahnverfärbungen und Beläge festgehalten werden. Die Entfernung der Beläge auf den Zähnen und in den Zwischenräumen wird durch eine schmerzfreie Ultraschallbehandlung durchgeführt. Starke Verfärbungen der Zähne, die verursacht wurden durch z.B. Zigaretten, Tee oder Kaffee, können durch die Anwendung eines modernen Pulverstrahlgeräts (Air Flow) entfernt werden. Ganz wichtig ist dann die Politur der Zähne, um diese zu glätten und um erneute Entstehung von Zahnstein und Bakterien zu verzögern. Am Ende werden die gereinigten Zahnflächen mit einem fluoridhaltigen Lack überzogen, um die Zahnsubstanz zu “remineralisieren”, wodurch das Risiko der Kariesentstehung reduziert werden kann.
Ist eine Zahnreinigung schmerzhaft?
Eine professionelle Zahnreinigung ist nicht mit Schmerzen verbunden. Besonders empfindliche Patienten nehmen ein leichtes Kribbeln war. Die verwendeten Materialien sind ein Ultraschallgerät und ein Pulverstrahlgerät. Beides greift weder Zähne noch Nerven an und ist damit komplett schmerzfrei. Nach der Zahnreinigung kann es in einigen Fällen zu einer zeitweisen Zahnüberempfindlichkeit kommen.
Wo reiche ich meine PZR Rechnung ein?
Nach der professionellen Zahnreinigung erhalten Sie Ihre Rechnung. Diese Rechnung reichen Sie dann bei Ihrer gesetzlichen Krankenversicherung, privaten Krankenversicherung oder Zahnzusatzversicherung ein. Sie können die Rechnung per E-Mail oder Post einreichen oder per App oder auf der Webseite hochladen.
Wie lange dauert eine Zahnreinigung?
Die Behandlungsdauer der professionellen Zahnreinigung (auch PZR genannt) in unserer Zahnarztpraxis (ZMVZ) beträgt im Regelfall circa 60 Minuten. Je nach Zahnverschmutzung variiert die Behandlungszeit. Neupatienten sollten zusätzlich 15 Minuten mehr für eine Behandlung einplanen, da wir mit Ihnen ein ausführliches Kennenlerngespräch und eine Kontrolluntersuchung durchführen. Dies sorgt für eine unkomplizierte und angenehme Behandlung. In unserer Praxis verwenden wir ausschließlich moderne Technologien und legen großen Wert auf ein perfektes Resultat. Unsere speziell ausgebildeten Mitarbeiter werden regelmäßig geschult.
In welchem Alter sollte der erste Zahnarztbesuch erfolgen?
Sobald sich die ersten Milchzähne zeigen, sollte ein erster Informationsbesuch vereinbart werden. Das ist in der Regel im Alter von etwa einem halben Jahr. Das Kind wird so im frühen Alter an die Zahnarztbehandlung gewöhnt und entwickelt so keinerlei Ängste vor den Zahnarztbesuchen.
Was darf ich nach der Zahnreinigung essen?
Da die behandelten Zahnflächen nach einer PZR sehr sensibel und anfällig für neue Zahnverfärbungen sind, wird empfohlen, eine ganze Stunde nach der Behandlung nichts zu essen und nur Wasser zu trinken. Im Anschluss kann alles gegessen werden, außer klassisch färbende Lebensmittel, diese sollten erst wieder nach 8 Stunden verzehrt werden. Klassisch färbende Lebensmittel im Überblick: Kaffee, Tee, Rotwein, Cola, Karotten, Rote Beete, Kurkuma, Tomatenmark etc..
Darf ich nach der Zahnreinigung etwas essen?
Direkt nach der professionellen Zahnreinigung (PZR) sind die behandelten Zahnflächen für einige Stunden sehr sensibel und anfällig für neue Verfärbungen. Daher wird allgemein folgendes empfohlen: - bis 1 Stunde nach der Prophylaxe nichts essen und nur Wasser trinken - bis 8 Stunden nach der Prophylaxe nicht rauchen und auf klassisch färbende Lebensmittel wie Kaffee, Tee, Wein, Cola, Karotten etc. verzichten
